THIS IS A

San Francisco

LOVE STORY.

Kate and Lorenzo met on June 14th, 2020, on a Hinge date at Alta Plaza Park in San Francisco. Lorenzo had been living in New York at the time but was back home in Mill Valley, for the foreseeable future while COVID had shut down most of the world. Kate, having recently gotten out of a relationship, and Lorenzo, planning to return to his life in New York, agreed to a summer fling. So ensued many park “hangs,” wine nights in Pacific Heights, hikes in Marin, and long walks around the city. To their friends, the two became known by their nicknames, “Park Chick” and “NYC Boy,” respectively.

After their COVID summer fling, the two stayed in touch and saw each other sporadically between SF and NYC over the next two years. Though with every subsequent flight back to New York, Lorenzo realized that he had “left his heart in San Francisco.”

On Valentine’s Day in San Francisco, 2022, Lorenzo asked Kate if she would accompany him as his plus one to a wedding in Bath, England, that spring. Shortly thereafter, the two became official; they had been acting nonchalant about their feelings for one another for far long enough. After another 6 months of long-distance, Lorenzo packed up and moved back West in September of 2022. They moved in together in a cozy apartment in North Beach, in May of 2024, and got engaged in December 2025, at Ina Coolbrith Park, right before celebrating the holidays with Kate’s family in Portland, Oregon.

Flying into san francisco. . .

If you plan on flying into San Francisco, the closest airport to us is San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) is a close 2nd, but be warned: traffic crossing the Bay Bridge from Oakland into San Francisco (or vice versa) during rush hour can be brutal.

Hotels in san francisco and beyond. . .

Please let us know if you need help looking for accommodations. Here are our recommendations:

IN SAN FRANCISCO:

The Huntington Hotel ($$$) – The newly renovated and quite a posh, old-school SF stay. Excellent restaurant and spa.
1075 California St. San Francisco, CA 94108 / (415) 745-9001

1Hotel San Francisco ($$$) – Great views, great signature scent. The trendiest, most eco-conscious stay on this list, right by the water. Small but mighty spa.
8 Mission St. San Francisco, CA 94105 / (415) 278-3700

The Fairmont San Francisco ($$) – An SF classic and the most historic property on this list. Check out the legendary, tropical-themed Tonga Room if you can.
950 Mason St. San Francisco, CA 94108 / (415) 772-5000

The Jay, Autograph Collection ($$) – A newish property in FiDi
433 Clay St. San Francisco, CA 94111 / (415) 296-2900

Hotel Drisco Pacific Heights ($$) – A boutique option in a lovely, quiet neighborhood
2901 Pacific Ave. San Francisco, CA 94115 / (415) 346-2880

Palihotel San Francisco ($$) – For all Pali Society fans
417 Stockton St. San Francisco, CA 94108 / (415) 400-0500

Kimpton Alton Fisherman’s Wharf ($) – The nicest stay in Fisherman’s Wharf, we think. Excellent restaurant attached.
2700 Jones St. San Francisco, CA 94133 / (415) 771-9000

IN SAUSALITO:

Cavallo Point Lodge ($$$) – A serene and romantic getaway for nature-lovers, just across the Golden Gate Bridge. Originally a Military Post. Check out their spa.
